Manchester City Women have announced the signing of England junior international Ruby Mace on a three-year contract.
This is a first professional contract for the 17-year-old, who was previously with Arsenal.
After making a handful of senior appearances for the Gunners last season, she joined Birmingham in January as a double entry and made 11 Women’s Super League appearances for the Blues, scoring twice.
Mace, who has represented England in different age groups and is currently part of the U19, said on City’s official website: “I am so happy and excited to join Manchester City.
“At 17, this is the highlight of my short career so far. I have so much to learn and develop in my game and I think it’s the best environment for me to make my dreams come true. “
City boss Gareth Taylor said: “We are delighted to have added Ruby to our squad here at Manchester City – she is a talented player who we believe has a very bright future ahead of her.
“She has already proven that she can make her mark in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and we are really looking forward to working with her in the seasons to come. “
“We have had a number of young players who have made their mark here at City in recent years and I hope Ruby is next in this long line of success stories. “
City general manager Gavin Makel added: “We are delighted to welcome Ruby to the Club, who is one of England’s most exciting young talents.
“We know the potential she has and we look forward to working with her to develop it further. “
