EL NUEVO DIARIO, LA ROMANA.- The prodigious golfer Kevin Rodríguez came out front in the first round this Friday of the National Youth Championships, which are held in Casa de Campo.
Rodríguez signed card 73 on the first day of the event, being the leader in the 15-18 category. The first round was played on the Teeth of the Dog field. The event is organized by the Dominican Golf Federation (Fedogolf).
Justin Rodríguez, Kevin’s brother is second with 84, while Elvin Montgomery shot 96.
The other categories will play on Saturday and Sunday at The Links.
About 70 children between the ages of 4 and 18 take part in the event.
Rafael Canario is the rules director of the fair.
On this occasion, the event is sponsored by Banreservas, Bepensa Dominicana, Rica, Cervecería Vegana, Malta India, IQtek Solutions, Smurfit Kappa and Emilios.
It should be remembered that the National Youth Championships were not held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2019, Stephany Kim rose to top honors.
Kim won the Women’s Championships for the third year in a row. He is going in 2021 in search of his fourth trophy.
