Hyundai launched production of Santa Cruz pickup truck

Hyundai’s Montgomery, Alabama plant kicks off serial production of the Santa Cruz pickup. Deliveries of the new items will start later this summer.

Hyundai Santa Cruz joins four models on the Alabama plant assembly line: Sonata, Elantra, Santa Fe and Tucson.

“We are very proud to be producing the Santa Cruz pickup for North America,” commented Ernie Kim, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama. “The launch of this project is another testament to the company’s trust in our plant. which has done everything to ensure that the model goes into production during these difficult times for the whole world. We cannot wait for our customers to experience the Hyundai Santa Cruz in action. “

The world premiere of Hyundai Santa Cruz took place in April 2021. It is built on the stretched Tucson platform. The pickup can be ordered with 190 and 275 hp petrol engines. The first works in tandem with an 8-band “automatic”, the second – with a robotic preselective gearbox. An optional all-wheel drive system HTRAC is offered.

Let’s remind that at the beginning of June Ford presented a competitor to Santa Cruz – a pickup truck Maverick, and announced a price for it, which could become one of the main advantages over the “Korean”.
