The Moscow City Tourism Committee, together with the Federal Tourism Agency and the Prosveshchenie Group of Companies, have launched a competition for schoolchildren across the country for the best video about tourist attraction points in their regions. The concept of the competition was developed on the basis of the methodology of the educational project “City of Discovery”. The TikTok service, which is popular among young people, has become a platform for placing competitive videos.

More than 25 thousand schoolchildren from 85 regions of Russia presented the tourism potential of their native places. The popularity of the competition is also evidenced by the fact that the promo video with the participation of the main ambassador of the tiktoker competition Dani Milokhin collected more than 60 million views, and the total number of views by the hashtag #country of discovery on the TikTok video platform exceeded 265 million.

The All-Russian educational and tourist competition “Land of Discovery” started on March 9, the results will be summed up at the end of June. The winners will receive the official status of ambassadors of the regions of Russia and prizes from partners – a bright youth smartphone vivo Y31 with a powerful battery and a large screen, SPLAT oral care kits, headphones, chargers, selfie sticks from the BY brand designer.

The most talented authors will embark on a rail educational and travel journey with popular bloggers and artists, accompanied by professional tutors.

Deputy General Director of ANO “Project Office for the Development of Tourism and Hospitality of Moscow” Maria Kiseleva: “According to the results of the competition, 85 winners – travel ambassadors from all regions of the country will be determined. We see the active involvement of schoolchildren, because the format that we have chosen – short videos on TikTok, with an educational module conducted before shooting – allows teenagers to talk about the merits and resources of their small homeland throughout Russia in the language of the TikTok platform that they understand. According to the “City of Discovery” methodology, they shoot not only cultural and historical objects, but also industrial enterprises, technoparks, ecological centers, recognizing their city as an integral system of industries. With the help of the competition, we are creating a new paradigm of children’s educational tourism that meets the needs of the current generation of schoolchildren. “

Then 200 videos that passed the primary selection were submitted to the jury. The main criterion for assessment is its emotional component. There are small cities that find it difficult to compete with megacities in terms of attractions, but even their potential can be presented in such an original way that you immediately want to visit them. The mission of our competition, among other things, is to inspire schoolchildren to actively learn and love their homeland. “
