ARIZONA- The strictest fire restrictions were implemented across the state this Friday morning as authorities continue to fight the Telegraph and Mescal fires.
The Land Management Office increased restrictions to stage 2, which prohibits building or using fire, campfire, or charcoal or wood stove. In addition, smoking, shooting weapons (except during a legal hunt) are prohibited.
Authorities emphasized that the use of fireworks, lanterns are prohibited throughout the year on public lands throughout the state. The use of liquid or gas stoves, flashlights, and heaters with shut-off devices are permitted in grass-free areas.
The risk of fire is latent in the north and northwest of the state.
Violators can be fined or held personally liable for reimbursement of firefighting costs, authorities warned.
