NOAA: Monk seal Ka‘ale’s death was caused by toxoplasmosis - Honolulu Star-Advertiser
Federal wildlife officials determined that the Hawaiian monk seal known as Ka‘ale died from toxoplasmosis. The seal, also identified as RH32, was found dead on the Nanakuli shoreline in May. This parasitic disease can cause dysfunction in the heart, liver, lungs, and brain.
