Earthbound de Johanna Faye & Saïdo Lehlouh

In May 2018, Place de la Fraternité in La Courneuve, Johanna Faye and Saïdo Lehlouh, in complicity with designer and visual artist Malte Martin, invited and choreographed seven electro and hip hop dancers to redraw the contours of the City of 4000 South. Audience and dancers occupied several distant points of the square at the same time, the lines of the urban scenography responded to the frenzy of the dance. From this adventure was born the desire to create Earthbound, from the similarities, friction, contrasts and porosities between the electro gesture – born in the clubs, and the hip hop gesture – born in the street. Interlocking, contortions, geometric figures, circularity of bodies: the dancers connect the two currents and bring out atypical movements inspired by voguing, locking, house or popping. To the sound controllers, the Londoner IG Culture adds his jazz fusion touch to this formidable effusion of styles.
