The Arizona Rattlesnakes said Thursday that they fired hitting coach Darnell Coles and assistant hitting Eric Hinske.
Both were replaced by Triple-A hitting coach Rick Short and Drew Hedman, respectively.
Short is in his first season as the Reno Aces hitting coach after two seasons in the same Double-A role (2019 and 2020).
He also served as a hitting coach for Class A, in 2018, and as a coach for the Rookie category in 2017. He was a scout for the Rattlesnakes between 2010 and 2017.
For his part, Hedman is in his third season as the team’s coordinator, where he helps the major league coaching staff with the process of advanced batter development.
He played four seasons in the Boston Red Sox organization (from 2009 to 2012) and worked at the Washington Nationals main office as an assistant coach in 2014, before becoming a professional scout in 2018.
